Northline Taxis had been fined twice in a year for drivers operating on lapsed authorities. Credential tracking was a shared spreadsheet, and the enforcement was whoever remembered to check it.
Every credential a driver needs to operate is a record with an expiry date. As the date approaches, the driver gets escalating reminders through the app. On the day it lapses, the driver's eligibility is withdrawn automatically: no login, no job acceptance, no meter.
The driver uploads the renewed document from the app, it enters a review queue ordered by urgency, and approval restores access immediately. Nobody re-enables anything by hand.
"The regulator asked how we enforce it. We showed them the audit trail instead of a policy document."
Checking the spreadsheet on Monday mornings, ringing drivers, and deciding whether to let a driver work one more shift on a lapsed authority.
Two weeks of warning instead of a phone call on the day, and a renewal that takes a photo rather than a visit to the office.
The next regulator audit found nothing to report. Four hundred and twelve drivers are enforced by the same rule, and the rule is visible to all of them.
